Niran for EV (accessible via goev.nirantech.com) is operated by Niran Technologies. We are dedicated to transparently handling the data collected during your EV charging sessions. This policy details how we handle your personal, financial, and charging telematics data complying with Information Technology Act, 2000 IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data) Rules, 2011 Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

1. Data Collection & The 3-Step Process

To facilitate our 3-step workflow (Scan, Pay, Charge), we collect the following datasets:

• Step 1: Scan (QR Code & Location Data): When you scan a Niran station QR code using a smartphone camera or app, we collect your device's geographic location, camera permissions (where applicable), browser/app identifiers, and the specific Station ID to pair your device with the physical EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). We collect Personal Information such as Name, Mobile number, Email address and Vehicle details
• Step 2: Pay (Financial & Transaction Data): When you process payments, our RBI-authorized third-party payment gateways collect credit card details, UPI IDs, net banking info, or digital wallet data. Niran does not store your raw card numbers or banking credentials. We retain tokenized payment keys, transaction IDs, authorization status, and the amount authorized.
• Step 3: Charge (Telematics & Station Metrics): While charging, we collect live charging metrics, including energy consumed (kWh), real-time voltage, current draws, total session duration, vehicle connection status, and error logs.

2. Use of Collected Data

We process your information exclusively to:

• Initiate, monitor, safely terminate, and log your vehicle's charging session.
• Calculate accurate session bills and execute automatic refunds for unused balances.
• Diagnose hardware or grid errors at our charging points.
• Prevent transaction fraud and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Data Sharing with Infrastructure Partners

We only share data to execute your service:

• Payment Processors: To complete step 2 and process refunds for unused funds.
• Station Hosts: If a Niran station is hosted on a commercial property, aggregate energy usage data may be shared with the host for commercial utility billing. No raw financial data is ever shared with third parties.
• Government or regulatory authorities: If legally required.

4. Data Security & Encryption

We protect user data using secure server layers (SSL/TLS) during internet communication. Financial authorizations are processed via standard PCI-DSS compliant channels to ensure maximum security during the pre-authorization phase.

5. Retention of Session Records

Transaction histories, including Station IDs, kWh metrics, and refund receipts, are retained securely to comply with financial, tax, and legal requirements. You may request the deletion of account profiles, but core transaction logs will remain stored as legally required.
